Kilpatrick's Legal Problems: Area Leaders Want the Drama to End Quickly
http://www.wwj.com/Leaders-Want-Kilpatrick-Drama-Ended/2752121

We really don ’t need this right now.

That is the message Detroit-area business and political leaders were sending to Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as the drama of the mayor’s legal troubles played out last week.

The statements issued by area leaders showed respect for the mayor’s right to due process and the need to let the legal proceedings run their course. But, also expressed was a keen desire to see this issue go away – one way or another – and soon. A statement issued Thursday by the business-oriented civic organization Detroit Renaissance summed up the mixture of apprehension and frustration felt by many.

"The situation involving the mayor of Detroit is disruptive and a distraction to the work many of us are doing to redevelop this city,” the Detroit Renaissance statement said. ”However, there are political and legal processes underway that are addressing this issue, which we are seeing take place right now. While we hope this matter can be resolved quickly, we have to respect these processes."

1. I can't believe he is still mayor
Every day I see him clinging to power, I am amazed. This guy is unbelievable. What a disgrace.

3. This is Ridiculous
Just by continuing to hold on, the city is prevented from making any progress elsewhere on business development, city reconstruction, etc.

All he is doing is squandering the few resources we do have.

5. If he were to cost Obama Michigan...
Now I have been skeptical of that possibility, but were it to be true, he could cost Obama the election and a McCain presidency could very well mean war with both Iran AND Russia.

In other words, Kwame Kilpatrick, in all his selfishness, could literally cause World War III.
