Obama is in Michigan this weekend
Battle Creek Sunday then he's going to march in the Detroit Labor Day parade and we've heard rumors that he plans to stop by the Detroit Jazz Festival afterward.

2. He IS?
Hart Plaza will be taken over by the Jazz Festival. Do you know what time -- in the morning maybe? The music doesn't begin until noon.

10. Any thoughts on parking?
With the parade and the Jazz Fest going on, is it better to park at Cobo or at Greek Town (taking the People Mover to the Ren Cen)?

:hi:

11. There are supposed to be shuttles from Cobo
Although that might be just to the staging locations for the parade. Not sure about the rally itself.

12. Mom and I are going tomorrow!
The Calhoun Cty Dems office called me tonight and said they had special tickets left. They assured me that they're down front and all, since I'm home sick with out-of-control asthma this weekend (Hubby and kids went to the grandparents), but I don't see any numbers or anything on them that says that. *sigh* I don't think I'll be able to go if I have to stand in line from 5pm on just to end up standing somewhere. My asthma won't let me.

The rally is at 11 a.m.!

On edit:

Oops! Did you mean Battle Creek or Grand Rapids today, not Detroit tomorrow? Sorry.

14. Battle Creek. I ended up not going.
Was in the ER for my asthma instead. Ugh. Several people from the rally were there, though, and one gal said her brother's friend had been trying to drive in town over to the park since 5pm and still wasn't there by 8:30. People were amazed at how crazy the traffic was (Battle Creek's not used to traffic, really).

15. I went to Detroit today ...
Barack Obama was supposed to be there at 11:00am, didn't get to the podium until about 11:45am. He spoke for maybe 10 minutes. It was hot at Hart Plaza. We found some shade, but there were thousands of people in the blazing sun. Ouch.

I am glad I went. My wife and 3 kids also went, and they enjoyed it.

16. I was there, too
Most disorganized thing I've ever been to. Hart Plaza was a lousy venue. We could hardly see the stage and couldn't hear anything. I've seen Barack at two other events, so it wasn't so bad for me. I really thought Biden would be with him and really wanted to see/hear him. Hopefully they'll be back together at another event.

18. You were far closer than I was
I just watched most of a video of his speech on YouTube. Now at least I know basically what he said. I do understand his cutting his speech short. The storm is also probably why he didn't bring Joe up on stage with him. I'll just have to watch for the next event and hope I can go.
