Kwame plea bargain: resigns, 4 months in jail, 5 years probation, $1million in fines ...
... surrenders license to practice law, cannot hold political office for 5 years, surrenders pension back to city.

No link ... was on TeeVee (local and cable).

Why can't we get Cheney. Bush, and company to do the same?

1. Here's a link...

Did you see his,"I gave up my right to that a long time ago." comment when asked if he realized he was giving up the right to be presumed innocent?

Piss. Me. Right. Off.

I was confused in all the babble and I thought his pension is to be held in trust until restitution is paid.

... if I were the judge. His sense of entitlement and immaturity is shameful. The City of Detroit deserves better.

3. Back at you.
:loveya:

And, hopefully, they will get it. He swindled them, and mocked them. Today was a good day.

4. We should get a better mayor from this deal ...

... not so sure about the next City Council president, though.

I'm not sure I understand all this. Pleading "No Contest" to assaulting a cop? What is that?

:hi:

edit to add: And his co-conspiring police chief resigned!

6. Did you catch his speech this evening?
What a goddamn egomaniac bullshit artist. I guess because there are larger societal problems, the Governor was supposed to ignore her duty under the law to respond to City Council's request and let him abuse his office. What a joke. We "set him up for a come back." Unfuckingbelievable. Sociopath.

8. I didn't watch. It was on the TV at the restaurant where I went to eat.
... but I pretty much ignored it other than to catch that he was on.

He's an embarrassment to the decent folks of the City of Detroit.

9. What cemented my feelings on this was his swipe at the Governor
Until then I had really mixed emotions about the jail time. I definitely thought Kwame should resign but I did think the restitution, the probation, the loss of his law license, and the inability to run for office again would be humiliation enough. Our jails are already overcrowded, I thought, why not just put him under house arrest?

Then he made that crack about the Governor's priority list and it really made me realize that Kwame Kilpatrick is as arrogant and clueless as ever and the only real remorse he feels is that he got caught. Now I think he deserves everything he's got coming and more. What an SOB.
