McCotter won by what.
Why did the Democrats not post a better financed race against McCotter. He barely won against a no so well groomed Democrat , who was underfinanced... ??... Why. We very well would have won.. With all the economic misery in western Wayne County, to be represented by a scab as obnoxious as McCotter. Only Michigan Repuke more obnixious than McCotter might possibly be Walberg. Maybe.?

1. I know!!!
I'm pissed that the Dems didn't put the money into the race. I knew McCotter wasn't that safe. I didn't see one ad for either candidate. If Larkin had been given just a little support, we may have been able to defeat another Republican. Maybe 2010 will be the year.

2. We have seen this before in, ahem, other congressional races.
Not to throw a wet blankent on a great day for Dems in the 7th and 9th, but there are times when deserving candidates running for Congress don't get the money from DCCC or the backing of the state party, yet put up a good fight. These candidates should be thanked for their efforts, because it often leads to a blue victory in the next election cycle.

4. Its just McCotter is more reprehensible than say. Knollenberg.
McCotter needed be high on our shitz list. He's a real right wing attack dog. He'd better represent places like the outback of Louisiana.

5. I had a hard time supporting Larkin
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 07:08 PM by bain_sidhe
because he's anti-choice. I once made a promise to myself that I would never vote for an anti-choice candidate (long personal story and I'm not going to argue the point). In the end, I filled in the little bubble for him, but felt like crap doing it. I wish Tony Trupiano had run again. Him, I could have enthusiastically supported and worked for.

6. Yes, Larkin wasn't a great candidate for me either
But McCotter was a pro-life guy too. Larkin was simply the better of two candidates. But since McCotter only got 51% against an unknown, underfunded candidate, he will be a target in 2010. Hopefully we'll get a great candidate, plus funding from the national party, and finally vote McCotter out of office.
