Candice Miller's daughter arraigned on drunken driving charges (police won't release report)

The daughter of U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township, was arraigned Tuesday in St. Clair Shores on charges of drunken driving, resisting arrest and fleeing and eluding police.

The Free Press tried to obtain information on the arrest Tuesday, but was refused access to the police report, a break from the St. Clair Shores Police Department’s standard practice of releasing public documents upon request.

Lt. Tom Willette of the police department’s traffic bureau said today that the report wasn’t released because patrol officers were the only ones on duty when the report was requested. Typically, police reports are released by the traffic bureau or detective bureau, he said.


He said he also didn’t want to provide information beyond what was in the police report, including where Carmack had been before her arrest, “because it’s still an open investigation.”
