A telling quote from article:

"The problem in connecting to unemployment offices was exacerbated by decisions made earlier this decade, when Gov. John Engler closed more than 40 unemployment offices around the state and converted to a cheaper telephone/computer system, Isotalo said. Six of those offices have since reopened."

Granholm is getting tons of blame for the state's situation, but if you look deep you will find the fingerprints of Gov. Big Turd (Engler).

2. Engler's fingerprints are over every evil thing that has happened to Michigan in the last 20 years

He sold the auto industry down the river; remember when he didn't block Bush from getting the GM plant in Texas, thus closing Willow Run, the historic Arsenal of Democracy? Arlington wanted so their residents would have enough money to buy Rangers tickets and Engler just let them have it, he didn't fight for Willow Run at all, my guess is because it's in liberal Washtenaw County.

He robbed the rainy day fund, he slashed taxes to business and the wealthy to the point that the state could no longer be funded, thus causing municipalities to lose their much-needed income, he screwed up school funding to the point where it can't be fixed, he stumped for term limits which has left us with legislators who aren't given enough time to learn how government works, he threw the mentally ill onto the street and into the prisons, I could go on and on and on but I won't.

God, I hate that man.

3. I can't stand Engler either

When Michigan was experiencing good economy times in the 90s, Engler should have been diversifying our economy in order to prepare our state for the future. Instead, the only thing he cared about was winning cheap political points by cutting taxes, without cutting spending. Diversifying our economy was left to Granholm and she has been doing a good job...it just takes time which is why it should have started years ago.

4. All day waits here in Grand Rapids. Five employees and people come here from Muskegon

and Kalamazoo. Since they went automated the on site unemployment places are few and fare between and Marvin can't handle the call volumes.
