R.I.P. Mrs. Hockey .... you'll be missed
March 7, Detroit News: A memorial mass for Colleen Howe will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church, 2215 Opdyke Road, in Bloomfield Hills.

Howe was married to National Hockey League legend Gordie Howe for 55 years. She died Friday at the age 76 . She had become ill with Pick's disease, a form of encroaching dementia.

In addition to her husband, survivors include (three) sons, Marty and Murray (and Mark); a daughter, Cathy Purnell; nine grandchildren and one great grandson.

Visitation is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks in Troy. Visitation also will be held for one honor before the mass.

The family asks that tributes be made to the Howe Foundation in lieu of flowers. Donations can be mailed in the foundation's name to 4935 Fernlee, Royal Oak, Mich. 48073. Donations also can be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Dementias, 1616 Walnut St., Suite 1100, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 11, at 11:00 am St. Hugo of the Hills Church 2215 Opdyke Road Bloomfield Hills, MI. Visitation begins at 10:00 am
