Granholm faults Cox for fighting health care reform

By JOHN FLESHER
ASSOCIATED PRESS

TRAVERSE CITY — Gov. Jennifer Granholm says Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox doesn’t have authority to join a lawsuit against the federal health care overhaul.

The Democratic governor told the Associated Press today that Cox, a Republican running for governor, should retain outside counsel if he wants to fight the law.

Interviewed in Traverse City, Granholm said she and the executive branch are Cox’s main clients. Granholm favors the health care overhaul. She said Cox wasn’t representing her or Michigan citizens who would benefit from the law.

Interesting collection of comments at the Free Press, too.

3. I'll second, third, and fouth ...
... your comment.

I'm sure going to miss her when she's gone. Too bad the wingnuts enacted term limits, although I was grateful that we got rid of King John the Worst that way.

6. I'm going to miss her, too.
I know she has a lot of detractors -- even among Dems -- but I still like her and know she's doing the best job possible with what she's had to work with (the likes of Bishop) and what she was handed. She's been bringing a lot of jobs to the state and a lot of new businesses. She's laying the groundwork for the future and hopefully if we wind up with a Republican governor, whoever he is won't destroy it. She gets a bad rap that I think is undeserved.

7. Me too
Unfortunately, many Dems are turning to the GOP talking points regarding Granholm. Alma Wheeler Smith has been particularly critical of the governor...which is odd considering how utterly incompetent the House has been in recently years. Hopefully Bernero doesn't choose this anti-Granholm strategy because: 1. It's a bad strategy and 2. It could cost him my vote.

8. In agreement
That Dems should avoid taking on GOP talking points.

9. She has the solutions
But, the national malaise caused by 30 years of give away trade can not be undone by any one governor..
