Dear friends:
We need 161,000 signatures to put the brakes on Michigan’s Emergency Manager law. Polls show that the majority of Michigan citizens would vote to repeal Public Act 4. In the campaign’s first month, over 50,000 signatures were collected to repeal this unfunded mandate, let’s work together to finish the job!
We invite you to join Congressman John Conyers, Rev D. Alexander Bullock, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26, Detroit Young Democrats, 14th Congressional Democratic Party, 14th District Young Democrats, Young Democrats of Michigan, Labor Leaders, Elected Officials, and most importantly the Community and YOU for a ‘Day of Action’ community rally and petition canvass.
Repeal Public Act 4 Community Rally and Petition Drive August 6, 2011 10am to 4pm 14th District Democratic Party Office 20225 Livernois in Detroit
This canvass will kick-off a series of community action days in communities across the state. We will begin at Mumford High School for a community rally with many guest speakers, including Congressman Conyers, Rev. D Alexander Bullock, and Rep. Jimmy Womack.
Afterward, we ask that you join us as we hit the streets and help canvass Detroit’s 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th House Districts. This will be a chance to explain to our friends and neighbors why this is such a crucial moment in Michigan’s history, and gain the signatures we need to stop PA 4
If you want to be part of the August 6th community day of action, please contact:
