Economic Democracy-Finding a Co-op in Mid-Michigan

Lately, I have been very interested in co-ops as a form of economic democracy and a possible way for our nation's poor and middle-class to advance. My interest peaked due to my positive experience as a member of a credit union, Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story, and the recent news that the United Nations has declared 2012 the year of Co-ops.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me towards any co-ops in the Bay City, Midland, Saginaw, area in Michigan. I have scoured google and haven't found much. Perhaps there aren't any in this area ouside of credit unions. Thanks to anyone who may have some info they can share!!

I'm not sure if by co-ops you are referring to living co-ops or working co-ops.
