What do people from Michigan call themselves? I'm from Wisconsin and we are Wisconsinites. Your governor called you Michiganders. Is that correct?

4. The difference between Michigander and Michiganian is dead, but not buried.

For some in the 1860s, Lincoln's derision of a fellow presidential wannabe as a goose, er, gander for the idea that some states should just decide slavery themselves, rather than keeping the state counts evenly divided. Or, something like that.

Some would take rebel-ious derision as a badge of honor, I guess.

Then again, our state motto, is: if you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you (Or, as I prefer, take a gander). It sounds pretty good in Latin, if anyone were to make sounds of Latin expressions.

Michiganian seems elegant and not gay, not that either of those would be a bad thing, mainly because we love underdogs here.

So, when I want people to enjoy looking about, I'm a Michigander, and when I want to be proper, I'm a Michiganian.

Then, there's that tremendously colossally huge bridge between the Lower and the Upper Peninsula, the U.P. with the U.P.ers up there, the Yoopers. They in turn affectionately -- NOT -- refer to us in the lower peninsula as Trolls, because, we live, down here, under the bridge.

5. I grew up a Michigander

6. Traditionally it was Michiganders, they tried to change it to Michiganians but few liked it

so there are two correct answers. (although I now see that Michignian is not liked by spell check here while Michigander is)
