Continuing the recent trend of larger-than-life figures speaking at local college campuses, Oakland University announced that filmmaker and Flint native Michael Moore will be speaking on campus about his newest book, "Here Comes Trouble."
Moore's appearance is sponsored by Student Video Productions, a campus group, with assistance from WXOU and The Oakland Post. Today he is spearheading a fundraiser for the Flint Public Library, and he has pledged to give 50 percent of his royalties to local libraries at each of his tour stops.
"Here Comes Trouble" is a collection of nonfiction short stories about Moore's upbringing in Flint and Davison.
“I am both thrilled and slightly nervous to share these stories in my hometown," Moore said in the news release. "They act as a sort of intimate history of not only my early life before I was a filmmaker, but of the Flint area itself. And some of that history, from the 1960s through the 1980s has never really been told in this manner. I'm guessing it will be an interesting night at The Whiting!"
Moore's OU appearance is at 7 p.m. at Meadow Brook Music Theatre on November 30.
