Granholm returns from Japan
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 11:05 AM by ih8thegop
From my email:

Every day in the Executive Office, we’re focused on going anywhere and doing anything to create jobs. And last week, that focus took me halfway around the world to Japan. I am determined to bring international investment to Michigan by pitching our state as the next global center of high-tech research and development. I am determined to create jobs and bring jobs home to Michigan. And we are telling the world: If you are a high-tech business or a life sciences business or an alternative energy business looking to open your doors or expand, look to Michigan first.

That was my message to Japanese corporate leaders, government officials and businesses 160 of them, in fact during my five-day visit. I hosted three seminars, traveled to six Japanese states and said the same thing everywhere I went: Michigan is the place to succeed in advanced automotive manufacturing, the life sciences and alternative energy development. It’s a message that has begun to pay dividends we’ve already attracted more than 500 new jobs from my trip to Japan that will be available to Michigan citizens soon. The link below will give you an in-depth look at my investment mission, including information on recent job-creation announcements.

This was a weeklong investment mission, but it was also part of a long-term strategy to reshape and grow our economy that starts right here at home with my Jobs Today, Jobs Tomorrow plan. Right now, across Michigan, we’re training workers to step into job openings that exist today through a MI Opportunity Partnership that will place thousands of unemployed citizens in good paying jobs by the end of this year. I’ve proposed a Jobs and Investment Act to completely overhaul Michigan’s business taxes, which will make our state more competitive, attract new investment and help our manufacturers. And pending action by the legislature, I’m anxious to pass the Jobs for Michigan Fund, which will invest up to $2 billion in creating new, 21st century jobs in the automotive, life sciences and alternative energy industries. Click here for details about my economic plan.

There is no question in my mind that if we roll up our sleeves and work together we will bring new businesses, new jobs and new opportunity to Michigan. I look forward to keeping you posted on our efforts and successes over the coming months. And don’t forget to spread the word about Team Granholm.

If you click on the first link, you'll see that hundreds of jobs are already coming.

Can you imagine Engler, Posthumus, or DeVos taking such great lengths to encourage investment in Michigan?

2. Sorry to bump this REALLY old post, but,
I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. My uncle, who's a repuke, told me today that Gholm's July 2005 trip to Japan took a detour half way through in which she went to Traverse City (my uncle was working there at the time) from Japan, spoke at his job site (he was doing construction work for something), may possibly have gone to a Michael Moore film fest. while she was in T.C., then got back on her plane and flew BACK to Japan, only to come back home a few days later. I can hardly believe that this happened, but couldn't say for sure since I had no idea what he was talking about. I've looked all night on google but could find nothing. If someone could say for sure that this did, or hopefully, that this did not happen, please let me know. If you have a link to a reputable source proving that she didn't fly to Japan and back to Michigan two times in the same week so that she could shmooze w/ Michael Moore, that would be even better. Sorry, but holiday family gatherings get kind of heated in our house... even though there is only one repuke in the family (the others are estranged now).

3. I can't say one way another but
she is trying to be an active governor and running a re-election campaign at the same time. I see no indication that she "living large" DeVos style.

4. Sounds like total reichbot vomit to me.
Typical of such hallucinations, no credible source is offered and the typically insane challenge to "prove the negative" (never logically possible) is made.

Somebody show me a newspaper article that PROVES monkeys DON'T fly out of Cheney's ass. :eyes:

5. Indeed...
Suprisingly enough, now that you mention it, typing in, "Granholm does NOT fly back and forth from Japan to Traverse City in the same day" does not get a single accurate hit when you type it into the Freep archive... hmmmm.
