Photos & recap of this week's campaign events - Skinner, Granholm, Kerry
Edited on Sun Jul-23-06 06:22 PM by SharonRB
There was a reception with the Governor on Wednesday, July 19 sponsored by Ellen Malcom from Emily's List. The Governor gave a great speech and energized the crowd.

Saturday was spent with Nancy in Farmington at their Founder's Day Parade and festival. She did a great job working the crowd and talking to people on on one.

Today was very full. Nancy debated Pan Godchaux at an event sponsored by the Huntington Woods Peace Group. She did a great job.

Then, as Nancy continued her debate, I went on to the rally for volunteers and precinct captains with John Kerry and Governor Granholm. Sandy and Andy Levin, Debbie Dingell, Marie Donegan, Andy Meisner and others spoke before the main speakers, who really stirred up the crowd.

After the rally it was on to Marie Donegan's house for a fundraiser attended by Kerry and Granholm. Nancy was present and spoke after Kerry and Granholm. There were about 50 people there and it was a thrill to be at such a small gathering with the governor and Kerry. When I said to Kerry that I know he really won, he said "I know we did." He is pretty open about admitting now that he knows he won. He and the governor are sending signals that he's is going to run again.

Take a look at my photo album at the link below. It was great getting my picture taken with both the Governor and Kerry and getting a chance to speak to each of them for a couple of minutes.

The only bad thing about the day was that there were the usual anti-abortion protesters outside the union hall where the rally was held with their large graphic posters. As Kerry and Granholm were leaving Marie's house, a couple of them had shown up there and were stationed on the sidewalk with their posters. The police were called, but they couldn't to anything because the protesters were on the public sidewalk. It was really disgusting.

1. Great pics! Kerry is certainly the Real Deal, isn't he?
I'm glad you got to go to the house party after the rally! Wish I could have joined you. I would have loved to have met him. I bet he was easy to talk to, wasn't he? I have always been impressed by him, but after sitting right in front of him while he spoke, I know my impressions were right all along.
Our President, a real adult with a brain, charisma, compassion, and a love for his country. What a concept, huh? Instead we have an adolescent pretzelnut squatting in our White House, with a bunch of criminals telling him what to do. Hrmph...
Really good to see you! Talk to you soon.

2. Yes, he was very easy to talk to, as was the Gov
They're both such caring, honest, compassionate people -- and smart (what a concept!). Oh, and don't let me forget good-looking!

Great seeing you, too. I'm glad you found me. I was looking around the room for you when I walked in, but didn't see you.

See ya in a couple of weeks -- we can have more time to talk at the meetup.

3. I wasn't going to mention it, but yes, he is handsome as can be.
His photos and his images on the screen do not do him justice at all. He is a fine, fine, fine looking man! His wife is one lucky lady!

5. Great Pictures, have one correction for you
Photo 21 of 28 indicates Gov. Granholm is talking to John Dingell. Actually the guy is Bob Porter, Mayor of Ferndale. John Dingell was not at this event, Debbie Dingell was there, but had to leave prior to the key speakers. Debbie Dingell was great, by the way.

7. Thanks for the pics. I could not make it
after all--but interesting, the third photo (pink shirt) is one of my boss' wives (she is a personal friend of Jennifer Granholm).

8. LOL -- that's funny.
I had no idea who she was. It was at a point where the governor was really trying to leave, as she was running late for another event, and everyone was trying to shake hands with her and get their picture taken. I didn't get to do that that day, but I'm glad I went to the smaller event on Sunday.
