ABOUT VoteTrust USA

VoteTrustUSA is a national coalition and support network for more than 50 non-partisan, state-based Election Integrity groups in 35 states., The VoteTrustUSA network has been instrumental in securing legislation or regulations mandating Voter Verified Paper Records in 27 states (19 in 2005 alone). A dozen of these states have also mandated a mandatory, random, hand-count to audit a percentage of the vote. Another five states have purchased paper-based voting systems of their own accord. A national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, VoteTrustUSA operates under the fiscal sponsorship of the International Humanities Council http://www.ihcenter.org ), a 501(c.)3 organization.

The Mission of VoteTrustUSA is to ensure that future elections are open, fair, accessible, publicly transparent, and accurately reflect the intentions of the voters. Our purpose is to dramatically expand the range and capabilities of the election integrity movement to improve election laws, regulations and administrative processes throughout the country and in Washington, D.C.

VoteTrustUSA strengthens coordination, organization, teamwork, knowledge, information sharing, advocacy and communication among election integrity organizations and activists across the country, and serves as a national voice for the Election Integrity Movement through the following core strategies:

In its first 18 months of operation, VoteTrustUSA:

· Organized Lobby Days, both in Washington DC and in Congressional Districts in both 2005 and 2006, involving a total of more than 1,000 concerned citizens, in coalition with Common Cause, Working Assets, VerifiedVoting.org, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and other organizations.

· Held two highly successful, 3-day Leadership Workshops in Washington DC for leaders of state and local election integrity organizations from across the country.

· Effectively connected the leaders of the 50 state-based groups in our coalition, enabling them to continually communicate, strategize, and work together with their peers and VoteTrustUSA staff

· Provided testimony to the Election Assistance Commission, the General Accounting Office, and the Commission on Federal Election Reform.

· Consulted to Senate and House offices in the preparation of election integrity legislation.

· Provided direct consultation, resource development and/or one-to-one assistance upon request to leaders of more than 40 of our state-based groups.

· Launched an interactive, Online Knowledge Base (at http://www.VoteTrustUSA.org ) to provide immediate access to constantly updated informational and educational resources.

· Published more than 500 original articles, briefing papers and analyses pieces based on research and input by VoteTrustUSA staff and coalition leaders.

· Provided a state-by-state legislative action alert service to enable activists to easily contact their state legislators, US Senators and Representatives about pending election reform legislation. In its first four months of implementation, this service has been used to support state legislation in Iowa, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida, New Mexico, California, Utah and Georgia.

· Created web pages and internet forums for each of the 50 states, to provide state-specific background and reference materials, articles by our staff and coalition leaders, reports on the progress of election integrity movement in each state, and communication tools for activists.

· Published a comprehensive weekly e-publication, Election Integrity News, which now has nearly 15,000 subscribers, and the Daily Voting News by John Gideon, which appears on numerous websites.
