A personal message to all that came to meetup yesterday.

I am by no means a poet, but this came to me just now. I was fed some tragic news today involving a friend's wife (I was best man in their weeding), and I do this kind of thing to just help me feel better. (This is something I was encouraged to do as a kid by my parents whenever I felt down.)

Anyway, just me expressing my appreciation for having met so many that post here. Sorry to those I left out.


In a park called Heritage,
I did not cross a bridge,
Because then I knew
I was already at home.

I met some special friends,
Who made me think time, and again,
That in this world,
I am not alone.

A ringleader called Sharon,
A pseudo lost soul called Livy,
A mother and daughter,
And a bright star called Nancy.

In tow came Kevin, Amy, Jordan and Daren,
Nancy’s young workforce,
If that’s not encouraging,
Then I don’t now what its worth.

There was a mentor called Aldo,
And funny, did you know,
Carrie, Tamara and Barry,
My home folk, walking in the throws.

And there’s me, called Dog,
A wanderer on two legs,
And I have been given so much,
Though some think I am a dreg.

This gathering from cyberspace,
With guts and dreams,
Meet in a summer place,
The future is better, it seems.

It was a pleasure meeting you. I wish some of the others who said they were going to come had shown up, but maybe next time.

Oh, and you forgot Barb (and her friend Sharon), without whose help in securing the location we would have had nowhere to meet! And, also, Laura (lpackard), Sen Stabenow's Internet Communications Director.

5. Yeah, I know I left a few out. Was just from the hip...

on this Sunday. Glad you were cheered by this, as it cheered me up when I wrote it. It has not been a day of very good news on the personal front, but here comes the sun tomorrow.

Oh, will not be at my usual Monday Nancy duty tomorrow (has to do with today's news), but will try and slide over there after work on Tuesday to ride out the primary action.

It's been too long. We need to stop talking about making plans and actually make them!

10. Carrie and Tamara are Farmington Dem Club folks.

Those two have much more political savvy than I ever will. I will tell Carrie you all thought she was the Energizer Bunny. :)

The 3 of us work very closely every election cycle. We like election season and club meetings as an excuse to go get ice cream too. :)
