IN Mondays Ann Arbor news.
The Bill of Rights guarantees our freedom of speech, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, freedom of religion, and freedom from religion in government. It guarantees the right to peaceably assemble and protest the government. It guarantees a speedy trial, a jury of your peers, and allows the right to question any witnesses against you. All of these rights, guaranteed to U.S. citizens by the Bill of Rights, have been violated by the Bush administration. No terrorist could ever take away our freedoms. No bomb can rewrite our constitution. Our government and a compliant citizenry are the only threats to our freedoms, our democracy, and our way of life.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, “There comes a time when silence is betrayal.” Right now is that time. By remaining silent you betray the very principles this country was founded on. You betray every Soldier, Airman, Sailor, and Marine fighting and dying in what they believe is a worthy cause for freedom. By remaining silent about the real threat to our freedoms, our democracy, and our way of life. You are betraying future generations by denying them the freedoms you have enjoyed up until now.
Right now is the time to stand up and be heard, join us on the corner of 5th and Liberty Monday-Friday from 5-6:30 pm as we stand up for our rights. Plenty of earlier generations felt the principles of democracy were worth fighting and dying for, all we ask is you hold a sign.
