Not only is this man not qualified to be governor, having no governmental experience, and really, limited business experience, he is dangerous, and not just to Michigan. The citizens and voters of Michigan owe it to themselves to become fully informed about the inner workings of Republican Dick DeVos as they make their choice and cast their votes in November.

Who is Dick DeVos and why does he want to be elected governor of Michigan?

The first and most obvious question:

Why does Dick with all those billions at his disposal--who lives the life of a jet setter with all the accoutrements (complete entrée to private jets, helicopters, ocean-going racing yachts, four palatial homes, a private Caribbean island, etc.) want to become governor of a state he portrays is in a crisis of historic proportions?

Secondly, the following questions:

What does the public know about DeVos' history, his political involvement and his specific issues? Are there critical concerns about Dick's agendas and his views on social and moral questions that should alarm or concern us as citizens?

In "The Doctrine of Dick DeVos" some of the elements of the DeVos Doctrine were listed. However, in order to understand any doctrine the founding principles and philosophy (in this case better described as a strangely twisted "theology") need to be thoroughly examined and explored.
While the real objectives of the DeVos Doctrine are basically simple self-enrichment and profit, the Doctrine and Dick DeVos for Governor campaign in Michigan are infused with a special sort of Christian Fundamentalist rhetoric and the ambitions of political power using organizations within the Christian Right, many of which were setup and financed directly by the DeVos Family for their select purposes and coordinated with other groups with likeminded agendas and goals. They form a cooperative network of burrowing idealogues and market fundelmentalists.

Conservative profiteers, like Dick DeVos have only one true objective: the harvesting of public funding and tax revenues from governments and tax programs, as well as related non-governmental organizations (NGOs) they pretend to hate. These organizations are not primarily formed to promote their religious views and agenda, which are secondary goals; they are formed to sustain and maintain a constant flow of public funds from public projects and programs to support their own enterprises and projects for personal power and profit.

2. Not just ports, everything.

People like DeVos want total control of everything, the money, the people, and how the people are governed. I don't think this race is getting enough attention nationally. It has greater ramifications than just the governorship of Michigan. I believe DeVos has his eye on the Presidency, and he will have tons of support monetarily and politically, if he succeeds in this election in Michigan. All those dollars he has donated, and his close ties to the current squatter in our White House and his Rovian brainboy, not to mention others in the far right, have to have some purpose. People like DeVos don't do anything unless it benefits them or their agenda in some way. He would be a right-wing dream come true for the "ruling class", and a nightmare for everyone else.
In a nutshell, this guy freaks me out. I wish he freaked out more people, and I think he would, if they knew what he was really all about. It's just tough to get that message out there.

3. I agree the Michigan Governors race is not getting enuf' support

Yes, the DeVos's want control of the presidency. Michigan is their stepping stone. It should be the stop gap but I have my doubts. They are running the same campaign here that they ran against Ann Richardson in Texas. Lot of bob and weave with jabs at Granholm's credibility.

We haven't recieved support from the Fed's in Michigan for the depressed economy in eons. I think that is by design.

Despite that, Granholm has not raised taxes and has cleaned up our huge deficits, no thanks to that fat ass Engler.

In Detroit, they are running a Granholm ad about how she saved the state from bankruptcy.

6. Here's a hint...

The fact that Dick DeVos has already registered the domain names www.devosforsenate.com and www.devosforpresident.com might give us an indication as to what he has planned for himself. As President Clinton said, it is imperative that we stop him now, in Michigan, and end his political career before it starts.
