Wow, what a ticket

This weekend's Democratic convention was fantastic. Amos Williams and Carmella Sabaugh came out victorious as Attorney General candidate and Secretary of State candidate. My feeling is these are both winnable positions now with our candidates in place. Onward to victory in November.

And our U.S. House challengers are a pretty great group, as well. Maybe Michigan can help take back more than one or two of the seats we need. Between Nancy, Jim, Tony and the others, I think we have a great shot.

2. Me three. Sorry I missed it.

I had planned on going to Cobo, but I woke up this morning feeling very ill. Between working in my mom's basement and canvassing in that heat/humidity yesterday, methinks I go a bit dehydrated. I felt bad because I was afraid of a close vote for the AG spot. My fears were put to rest when I heard on the radio an hour ago that Amos won by a healthy margin.

Bless Amos Williams. That man has become a personal hero of mine.

3. It was only close in the Third District.

In the rest, it wasn't anywhere near close. Not in my district, the Seventh. He is just so amazing and has such presence. He is really going to do well, I think.

5. I had the honor of meeting him at a fundraiser for Nancy

at someone's home back in June. We talked for a while and I was totally impressed with him (I also had a chance to speak to his wife for a while). I don't see how anyone could meet him and not have total confidence in him. What a wonderful man! I sure hope we can get rid of Cox.

8. They were both good candidates.

Amos is a better one, though, I think. He's a civil rights attorney, a Vietnam vet who lost his hand to cancer from Agent Orange, and a former Detroit policeman. He also has amazing presence--I loved his speech at the Justice Caucus. He owned that room. :D

I think we need to keep Bowen in mind for other offices, though. He needs to run for the House, I think. We need someone like him in Congress working for Michigan. Which district is he from? Would he consider moving to the Seventh if Sharon Renier loses this November? ;)

4. I was really impressed.

It was a good convention, and everyone was really nice. I had to leave early today when my pain hit, so I wasn't sure about Sabaugh. That's good to know.

Now I've got to get things going over here and get Granholm re-elected.

the party is so structurally weak in a year when we could sweep the capitol like looks likely in PA.
