I am going to start posting the Granholm for Governor talking points everyday. I don't know if everyone receives these e-mails from the campaign, but they are very helpful. If you weren't at the convention, you've got to watch "See Dick Run." There's a link included below. It was great!

Jobs Plan Paying Dividends: The Governor’s speech included a list of companies that are investing in Michigan that literally spanned from A to Z, from American Axle in Detroit to ZuSyn in Kalamazoo.


But There Is A Lot of Work Still To Be Done: While Governor Granholm’s jobs plan has taken hold and is starting to pay dividends, it needs to be seen through -- Michigan is facing historic challenges with globalization and the Bush administration putting the squeeze on Michigan workers through unfair trade policies and outsourcing.


Dick DeVos Is the Problem, Not the Solution: DeVos has stood with George Bush and outsourcers, and he sang the same tune in his speech to the Republican convention over the weekend: he continues to support policies that help the fortunate few, including himself, at the expense of everyone else. The Grand Rapids Press: Incumbent insists she can lead turnaround
Referring to DeVos not by name, but as the former "CEO of Amway" who has spent "big money" on "slick ads," Granholm said "some people inherit a fortune, I inherited a (budget) mess. But I didn't just whine about it -- I cleaned it up." Granholm also whacked DeVos for his failed 2000 voucher campaign to overturn Michigan's ban on taxpayer funding for private schools, his opposition to abortion rights and his financial support of groups she said oppose social services and labor rights… She said given that Michigan's economic difficulties are the result of Republican policies backed by DeVos, "we're sure as hell not going to turn the keys to the Capitol over" to him.

The Macomb Daily: Sabaugh to run for secretary of state
Granholm, after an appearance at the Laborers' Local 1191 picnic in Ray Township, labeled Sabaugh a "marvelous, just phenomenal" candidate to unseat Republican Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land… "President Bush found time to meet with 'American Idol' winner Taylor Hicks but he had no time to meet with our CEO's. Bush is an American who is idle, just sitting on his hands while our state is being challenged," Granholm said. Telling the 300 union members "I've got your back," the governor proposed a $4 billion road and bridge construction project in Michigan that would result in 43,000 jobs in the next three years if she is elected to a second term. Jimmy Cooper, the business manager for Laborers' Local 1191, said he liked what he heard from the governor. "We will support her 100 percent because she can get the state turned around if she gets another four years," Cooper said.

Posting the G4G talking points is a great idea, and thanks for linking to "See Dick Run." I wasn't in Michigan for the convention, but I was able to watch the governor's speech online. Having pushed for Granholm to make explicit the Amway/DeVos connection, I cheered when this line came out of my speakers:

I am a governor who goes to Asia to bring jobs back to Michigan. He’s a CEO who cut jobs in Michigan to invest in Asia. I want to invest in people in Canton Township, Michigan while he'd rather invest in Canton Province, China.

And the next quote had me out of my chair:

When you lay off over a thousand Michigan citizens, and then invest $200 million to hire people in China, those are fighting words in Michigan. We call it outsourcing. He can call it “restructuring." He can call it “personnel reallocation." Just don't call him "governor."

So, yes, this race if far from over, but I definitely like the direction we're headed.

So sincere, and there's no way you can listen to her and not trust her implicitly.
