About Howard Zinn: Howard Zinn is a lifelong historian, activist, and author of the bestselling book “A People’s History of the United States” now used as a history textbook in high schools and colleges. Zinn has been a catalyst for progressive change for more than 60 years. Noam Chomsky said, “it is no exaggeration to say he has changed the consciousness of a generation.”

• 1930s: Zinn organizes a union while working in a shipyard
• 1940s: Zinn enlists in the Air Force during WWII and drops newly invented napalm – an experience that shapes his pacifist outlook
• 1950s: Zinn teaches at Spelman College, taking a leading role in Civil Rights Movement
• 1960s: Zinn protests Vietnam War with students, and negotiates the peaceful return of American Servicemen from Vietnam.
