There were around 15 Dems that showed up to demonstate at the event location, and urged Bush to meet with the Big 3 Auto Execs on Dixie Hwy, across from the entrance to where "W" and Mike Bouchard motorcade entered and exited off of Dixie Hwy, between White Lake Rd and I-75 (exit 93). Other issues were also covered, like stem cells, the war in Iraq.
The Oakland Press had a photographer at Dixie Hwy and White Lake Rd and WDIV had a camera person there, but a court ruling that ordered the Detroit Federation of Teachers back to work on Monday eclipsed any coverage, at least at 6:00 PM.
After Bush and Bouchard departed via motorcade, a number of expensive vehicles (including some Rolls Royces) emerged at Foster Rd at Dixie Hwy, and quietly made their way home from the event that had a $2,100 per person entry fee (just to get past the gate).
According to local radio coverage, "W" called CEO Exec Bill Ford from Air Force One and said he would meet with the auto execs after the election in November. Apparently campaigning to keep the House and Senate in Republican control (i.e. avoiding impeachment investigations) is a full-time job, precluding national policy issues like universal health care, energy policy, and globalization/fair trade.
