Citizen's 9-11 Commemoration & Peace Vigil
Saturday, September 9:

On Saturday, September 9, The Huntington Woods Peace Citizenship and Education Project will hold a Citizen's Commemoration of 9-11 with a Peace Vigil in front of St. John's Episcopal Church on Woodward just south of 11 Mile in Royal Oak from 4 to 5 p.m.

“On this the fifth anniversary of 9/11, we invite everyone in the community to join us in commemorating this day by standing for peace and an end to the war in Iraq and calling for bringing the troops home now,” said Rich Feldman, spokesperson for the group. “Bush's answer to 9-11 was global war and increased violence. More Americans have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq than from the 9-11 attacks. The Middle East and the world are more unsafe than before and we continue to see hundreds of thousand of US military men and women killed as well as hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens. That is why it is so important to stand for peace on the anniversary of 9-11.”

“The Huntington Woods Peace Group is committed to giving ordinary citizens an opportunity to commemorate 9-11 by expressing their desire for peace, their disapproval of Bush's war in Iraq and his so called war against terrorism”

The group will have signs and larger than life peace doves and invites citizens to bring their own signs.
