The Granholm campaign released a new ad in which Governor Granholm underscores her commitment to going anywhere and doing anything to bring jobs to Michigan, and to keep fighting for Michigan workers. Click here to see the ad…
http://www.granholmforgov.com/site/PageServer?pagename=diversifyingIn recent days, the Governor has stressed the importance of her comprehensive jobs plan, including the MI Opportunity Partnership, which assists citizens with training and job placement, and diversifying our economy.
Dick DeVos yesterday criticized as a ploy Governor Granholm’s efforts to support Michigan workers impacted by transition in the auto industry – too bad he has no plan for Michigan workers, and he is part of the reason why we are suffering.
The Governor’s plan, which is similar to the assistance that she offered to workers at Delphi and Electrolux, will make sure that workers have all the tools they need to successfully weather the transition whether they choose to retrain, go to school, start a business or find a new job.
All of these companies have suffered due to the unfair trade policies that DeVos and George Bush support, which have cost hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs but padded the pockets of corporate executives.
Despite that, DeVos has another false ad claiming that he is a jobs maker for Michigan. His business record shows that he is a jobs eliminator, and his support for bush economics got us into the mess.
Monroe News: Granholm proposes auto worker tax aid
Gov. Jennifer Granholm Monday called on the state Legislature to create a new tax deduction for workers transitioning from jobs in the auto industry into new careers. The deduction is aimed at auto workers taking an early retirement incentive or buyout. "As workers from Ford, General Motors, Delphi and other auto makers and parts suppliers transition from their jobs into new careers, I want to make sure they have assistance in enhancing their education or creating a new business," Gov. Granholm said. "The ingenuity and work ethic of our industrial workforce can be a tremendous asset in the new economy that is emerging in Michigan." . . . Gov. Granholm added that she also is calling for a new deduction of up to $40,000 for new business startups by workers who accepted an early retirement or buyout offer from an automobile manufacturer or supplier.

Dick DeVos will use the governorship only for a stepping stone to the White House. Only the right-wing conservatives in Grand Rapids will gain favor if the voters of Michigan vote in DeVos. We in Michigan will inherit the DeVos and Van Andels. Lansing will become cocktail parties and fundraisers. Let's keep Gov. Jennifer Granholm. She's going to need four more years to clean up this mess. Yes, Michigan needs lots of jobs, but being anti-union and pro-outsourcing isn't going to get jobs in this state. No one wants to work for pennies just to have a job.
