An anti-DeVos rant
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 09:07 PM by LuckyTheDog
Hey, Amway Dick…

Are you freakin’ KIDDING me?

The state is going through its most important (and painful) economic transition in 100 years --caused by world economic changes we can't stop.

Our college graduation rate stinks (it has for decades). We need to attract new industries and make sure our folks have the skills to work in them.

And you’re talking about INTELLIGENT DESIGN? Are you nuts?

Do you mean to tell me that at this stage of your campaign -- having looked at the competitive challenges we face from around the world –- you’ve concluded that we need more INTELLIGENT DESIGN instruction?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

At this point in Michigan’s history, we don’t need a “cultural warrior” as governor. We need a JOBS warrior. We need an EDUCATION warrior. We need a warrior for the MIDDLE CLASS.

What we don’t need is a religious zealot who will put his religious agenda at the top of his list of priorities.

THINK ABOUT IT... Out of all the issues you could addressed, you chose to make news by spoutinng off about INTELLIGENT DESIGN.

FREAKIN' INTELLIGENT DESIGN!... not a plan to reform business taxes... not an education prpoposal... not an idea about how to use the MEDC better... NO! INTELLIGENT DESIGN!

How clueless is that?

Get with the program, Dick, or drop out of the race!

5. Well, they own the country and just want to increase the rent, you see.
Really. Their presumption of entitlement is huge ... every bit the equivalent of thinking themselves the owners of the state and the country - just like the Bushoilinis act like they own the world.

7. This shouldn't come as a surprise
I got a call from a DeVos pollster over a month ago asking for my stance on abortion. DeVos is just testing the waters with the intelligent design BS. I predict an attack on Granholm because she's pro-choice. The Repuke playbook is getting boring in its predictability.

8. I wish that were the case...
GreenEyed, I wish I could believe that Dick is simply testing the waters and this intelliegent design push is all political smoke and mirrors. Unfortuantely, I believe that as a Dominionist, DeVos is all too sincere in his desire to instill fundamentalist religious values into every facet of government and society. If you aren't too familiar with the Dominionists, be sure to check out this Rolling Stone article. It's truly scary stuff and Dick's involvement is all the more reason that he must be stopped.

9. I don't have to see it to believe it, but
I'll read the article anyway. Thanks for sending it along. I've been aware of the DeVos freak-amentalist machine for a long time now. What I meant by testing the waters was the DeVos campaign's opening volley was the intelligent design stuff. It hasn't pulled out all the stops yet, and I fully expect they will. Hopefully the public (the part that thinks, anyway) will see it for what it really is.

10. I PREFER THAT HE DROP OUT OF THE RACE...
I am hoping that the word is really going out about how much more damage he can do to the state.
