1. My Notes on This Ad

(Well, I couldn't wait for the thing to "buffer" the ad first--I have "slow" dial-up, so everything takes so long to play--and I cancelled it, but I assume it is the same ad they have been showing on TV, so I will give my notes for it from what seems to be the same ad; a great one.)

ONSCREEN shows a framed picture of a grinning DeVos at an event; all around it, dollar bills rain down.
NARRATION: "Dick DeVos and his family have made millions of dollars in contributions, to elect the President, and Republican members of Congress" (Detroit Free Press, June 18, 2006; UPI, January 10, 1995)
"So when Dick DeVos lobbied Congress, what did he ask for?"
Goes to text screen--words on screen/spoken narration: "Dick DeVos lobbied for unfair trade agreements that outsourced tens of thousands of jobs overseas" (Business Week, February 16, 1978; Amway Lobbying Report, February 14, 2001 http://www.uscc.gov )

I think this is a great ad because it ties together a little more, a narrative or argument against DeVos, that being, that DeVos is just the worst kind of deregulating capitalist criminal, the one who "dabbles" in politics ONLY so they can lower or eliminate their own taxes, kill a law they have been breaking, or otherwise consolidate their own personal/commercial power and advantage. They do not give one God damn how it affects anyone or anything else; it is for them only their stepping stone, or "business plan." This ad ties together a little better, the fact that DeVos's outsourcing came about BECAUSE the overly-rich family spent so much money changing the law, that they were then able, as no one had been before, to stab Americans in the back and prance off anywhere they wanted to, where workers are slaves. The outsourcing to China IS the illegal lobbying/payoff situation. Think on that, Michigan.
