OK, I know we all have a lot bigger things to worry about—day jobs, the elections, Democratic senators that wimp out on such items as the torture bill and the bankruptcy bill. But, I think it is worth noting the upcoming series with the Yankees. First, a thought:
It was my understanding that under TV contracts with MLB for the playoffs, all Yankees and Mets games are to be played during prime time. When I heard that last week, I was pretty upset, but realized that another crook named George, and a N.Y. centric media, wield so much power that little me in Farmington Hills has an opinion worth about as much as pond scum.
Then, something funny happened: KC sweeps the Tigers, and we have to play the Crank Yanks in prime time in the first round. Please stay with me, even though true fans are just heartbroken after today’s game. I have two theories:
1. What better way to get the country on our side. I know people will be pulling for us, and we can again put on a great face when they come here, now matter what the outcome is.
2. I would much rather get the Crankees out of the way first. All starters are rested except Rogers. OK, I am a bit miffed that Leland used him today, but I have to trust the skipper’s judgment because he is one of the main reasons we are here talking about this.
I will leave a bitch about MSU yesterday for another time. For now, I see the Tigers beating the odds—symbolism that can carry me through November 7th as well. Now, I will have to watch the first game with the volume down while I run the phone bank at the F.H. office on Tuesday. Oh well, it shall be done.
