Help Nancy Skinner air ad with RFK, Jr.
Nancy filmed an ad with RFK, Jr. this past Monday. Now we need to raise lots of money to get it on the air. As soon as the postable video is available, I will post a link here on DU.

In the meantime, please do what you can and go to: http://www.actblue.com/page/skinnerforthe9th to donate and help us air this commercial.

Thanks!

1. Done. The crosspost in GD Politcs was a good idea.
RFK, Jr. is a great endorsement imo. I love that he's been going after election fraud/voting machines. His latest Rolling Stone article is a good read.

2. This is not the ad Nancy should be running
In my opinion this is the wrong ad for Nancy to be running.

On Nancy's home page she has the making of a great attack ad, which is what she needs at this point. Take the video of Joe Knollenberg saying "it will all work out. We'll be OK" and the rest of his statements on the home page and make it an attack ad.

The Robert Kennedy ad will only speak to voters already planning on voting for Nancy. She doesn't need to advertise to her base. You want new "customers" not the ones that already shop at your store.

3. Your strategy makes sense about an attack ad.
As much as I admire and respect RFK,Jr.,and he may be able to sway independent voters, a full press attack ad on Knollenberg would bring more attention to the differences between the two candidates. Are there currently any Skinner ads airing? I don't watch a lot of TV so haven't seen one.

I called Knollenberg's office this week to ask him to debate Nancy, but so far his communication director has not called me back...

4. He debated her in Farmington Tuesday night.
It was on local cable. The Farmington Council of Homeowners or something like that at the city council board room.

We really need money to air even this one ad -- nothing has been on TV to date. Hopefully we'll have something up on the 'nets soon.

5. Thanks for the info. Sorry I missed this but will try to find it on local
cable. I don't know why Knollenberg's office didn't tell me about this when I called them a few days ago and asked about debate schedule.

6. I don't think it was really considered an official "debate" as such
but I heard from people who were there from Nancy's office that it was, in fact, a debate and that she did great. I don't think Knollenberg wanted many people there -- he doesn't do well speaking in public. I hear he was sweating pretty badly and came across as nervous. It appears he's pretty worried.

7. I disagree
It is a midterm election, in a year with a Democratic wind and upset Republicans.

To use your metaphor, we need our customers to spend money! Spend more money than the other stores customers.

This election will be about turnout. We need STRONG Democratic turnout. I feel this ad will convince many Green/liberal leaning thinkers who might not have voted to come out to support Nancy.

With the Governors race getting super negative- perhaps Nancy benefits from staying positive. Joe WILL go negative, and more and more attack ads might upset voters enough to stay home. Nancy needs a positive message, to ensure great turnout on election day.

8. I guess we'll see on election day
I guess the only opinion that will matter on election day. There may just be enough disgust with the Republicans to carry Nancy over the top. The latest Foley scandal may cause enough Republicans to stay home to give Nancy a victory.

I think Nancy is going to need some Republican votes to push her over the top and I don't think she particularly appeals to moderate Republicans. Maybe some independents will vote for her, but Joe has done a good telling constituents that he's brought home the bacon for his district, as he did on Flashpoint last Sunday.

9.  You really think he did a good job on Flashpoint?
I don't. He looked nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera. And he tried to convince people that the letter he wrote to Bush singlehandedly will make him meet with the autos? What a bunch of crock that was.

I also disagree with you that Nancy doesn't appeal to moderate Republicans. I think she does appeal to a lot of them, and many she has met have told her so. Her stands on choice, stem cell research, global warming, the war in Iraq and more do appeal to moderates more than Joe's. I think many hard core, far right people will stay home because of the Foley thing, which will help Nancy.

11. The ad is up at her site now
I'm going to start a new thread. Several people have said they donated to my link, but only one donation has shown up.
