1. First time I heard the "f" word on TV was from Eddie Brinkman in ...

... a champagne-fueled interview after (?) locking up the AL East in '72. Eddie was on a roll and really blistered the airwaves that day.

3. RIP Aurelio Rodriguez

he was, and still is, my favorite Tiger. I like many of the others, and have met and received autographs from a bunch of the '68 (and some later) Tigers.

I was speechless when I got Al Kaline's autograph, could barely choke out a whispered "thank you Mr. Kaline." For me to be speechless is pretty rare! LOL

Now, Ivan "Pudge" Rodgriguez is my favorite.

4. My Tiger? My Tiger is Magglio, with a side of C-MO...

I have to say Magglio. One, because he is a damned good ballplayer and cute as the dickens, and two, because my daughter would kill me if I didn't list him first. And then there's Craig Monroe. What a jawline, what a hitter. :hi:

Age (and wisdom) and love of the GAME of baseball led me to enjoy such teams as the Rochester Red Wings and the Columbus Clippers ... the minor league teams where hot-dogs and beer are still a buck and there's a feeling of community in the stands -- no sky-boxes!

14. I'm a girl who cut my teeth on the Brewers. Hank Aaron, Jimmy

Gantner, Sixto Lezcano and no sports slouch myself. I spent summers as a 6-10 year old watching the Syracuse Chiefs and Ernie Whitt (you should recognize that native Detroit and Toronto Blue Jay name) So I'm pretty secure in my sports fandom.


Heck, I'm one of the only ones who stays in Comerica to the 9th inning on a losing night.

It's got nothing to do with that. It's got to do with not giving up on a team. :hi: I only say what I feel when I really feel it.

8. Meeting Al Kaline was a thrill...

I was working for Domino's at the time (before I realized the error of my ways); Tom Monaghan was still the Tigers' owner and my department got to use the President's box for a game. Al Kaline and George Kell came in to talk with us before the broadcast began. When I was in high school near East Lansing, the two sports anchors on the NBC affiliate were Steve Garagiola (weekdays) and Mark Kaline (weekends). So when I met Al, instead of mentioning his career I mentioned that I used to watch his son do the sports on TV. What a stroke of genius that was! Al immediately sat down next to me and filled me in on everything Mark was doing (he had been a student at MSU when he was on the sports), where he lived, that he'd gotten married, etc., etc. like I knew the guy. And when I mentioned that I thought our station was the only one in the country that had the sons of two Hall of Famers as the local sports team, Al's face lit up and he said "Wasn't that something?" He was really proud of his son.

My favorite '68 Tiger though was Bill Freehan. And my current faves are Pudge, Granderson, and C-Mo. I can't choose.

10. Granderson is definitely my favorite current Tiger

11. Stormin' Norman Cash was my favorite growing up.

My favorites now - well, first off, The Skipper, Jimmy L! We have a dog-eared section from the Free Press earlier this year called "IF....." then, as if it were written by Nostradamus, it lists all the things that had to come true for the Tigers to get in the playoffs.

For players, I like Nate Robertson, Granderson, Maggie O, and Pudge (seeing as how I play catcher, I need to like catchers), Thames, and Inge.
