Anti-Granholm Phone Call--FROM TEXAS!
Well, they keep trying, right up to the bitter end. This evening, today, I got another anti-Granholm phone message, but this one was a little different. This time, it is not a pissed-off teen girl, but a more adult-sounding, "serious," pissed-off woman, with that "can't take it anymore" effect. This is my transcript of the message, and note how they are lying about Granholm's policy, making it sound like she is handing out checks to everyone, when really Michigan is one of the few remaining States that realizes that poverty is extremely difficult to overcome, and takes a long time and much help, and therefore continues the once-common practice of poverty programs as needed. The ironic tone of the call--that "unending welfare handouts" are destroying the economy--reminds me of DeVos's corporate welfare, subsidies, tax cuts and tax cheats, and how they are destroying Michigan's economy. Again, no reference during the call as to what group is giving this message:

"Jennifer Granholm supports unlimited welfare checks, for able-bodied adults--FOR LIFE. Michigan is struggling, we all know that, but we need a Governor that is tough enough to put limits on welfare and say to able-bodied adults, 'TIME'S UP!' We all believe in compassion, but Jennifer Granholm is letting Michigan become the Great Handout State. Michigan can't afford the welfare giveaways of Jennifer Granholm. Vote for change on Tuesday, November 7th."

"We all believe in compassion"--but cut the goddamned peons off! Lovely. As mentioned, this call--(is there a Congressional investigation here somewhere?)--came from, right there on Caller ID, "Texas Call," and phone number is the actually impossible 903-000-0000. The "phone number" of this thing is really 000-0000! What the hell is going on here? Remember when the disgraced Republican criminal Tom DeLay was discovered illegally using the resources of the Department of Homeland Security (itself a fraud) to track down TEXAS DEMOCRATS who were trying to block an illegal Texas Republican Legislature vote by leaving the Legislature? This reminds me of that--the Federal Bush-Cheney "Government" by way of Texas, running campaigns Nationally, that are supposed to be each State's campaigns. God, will I be glad when this is over, and we have won. Pray.

1. I got that one, too
I didn't even bother listening to the whole thing.

2. I got that one. (I seem to get them ALL damnit.)
The only positive note is that they're wasting their money calling me - and I leave the phone off-hook until it starts beeping disconnect, doing my best to tie up their robocaller as long as I can.

That call (like all of them) gave me yet another chance to exercise my sailor's vocabulary. I can only hope they might occasionally record the backlash ... and perhaps get an earfull.

"Welfare" is code in Michigan for "black" ... and is nothing but a despicable race card. The lies and detestable deceits on this subject are overwhelming.

4. Right on All Counts
Well, this filth never ends, and now it is getting not only uglier, but kind of incoherent. This message came in this evening, also from TEXAS (?), and as you mentioned, it really does hit the "coded hot buttons"--sickening. Hey Republicans, why don't you just rip our whole country apart and have us all at each other's throats--just so you can win? Notice that the call does not even describe correctly the way things work; not to mention the fact that I, at least, have had no water-rate hikes at all...I don't even know what they're talking about there. I just figure, if they are going to put this filth on people's answering machines, and try to destroy our system of honest elections--and I also have to listen to every goddamned one of them--then I am going to type it up and post it. Yet again, they do not tell you who they are; the name of their group.

"Are you mad about your high water and utility rates? I sure am--and all Governor Granholm has done is take more money from utility companies and continue to raise our rates...So that just means--more money for Detroit. Granholm refuses to give us a voice on the Detroit Water Board. I know I am voting for change on Tuesday, November 7th."

Kind of "amusing," if that is the word--when you know that these assholes are calling from Texas, right there on Caller ID, then when they tell you that "Granholm" refuses to give "US" a voice on the Detroit Water Board, does that mean they want the people of Texas to be on the Detroit Water Board? What assholes.

3. And the MI GOP is complaining of illegal robocalls.
:eyes: Their tactics are really low this time. In our paper today, they had an article how an illegal robocall is going around our district with someone impersonating Sharon Renier running for Congress and sounding super nasty about Walberg (who deserves it, right-wing wacko that he is). It's not from Sharon's campaign (heck, she doesn't have that kind of money or resources), and Walberg's denying all knowledge.
