I have never been so happy to be wrong in my life
I was certain that we'd have election fraud in Michigan and they'd flip it for DeVos. I burst into tears when Jennifer came to the podium in victory. It feels SO good to have been so wrong. Wow, just wow. I'm still in shock. I'll have to learn to live with hope for our state and country again. This is just awesome.

1. Congratulations!!
Now we have to work to make the elections fair and accurate and auditable so that we are confident that great candidates and campaigns will win in future...

2. Thanks!
And what you say is right on target. And now we have the chance to make that a reality.

3. It's a great night.
I was 10 years old in 1994 and that was the first year I paid attention to politics and said I was a Democrat. My first election as a Dem was '94. So this is a long time coming.

5. AND David Brandon lost UM Regent!
Repub president of Domino's and DeVos' Michigan chair -- double loss. Boo hoo hoo. Both Dem Regent candidates won for UM and MSU. And, I THINK, Wayne State but I'll have to look that up again.

7. I do, and I was worried in that thread too

Then something happened in September and October. Despite all the slick, scripted, multi-million dollar Devos for Governor commercials eventually they had to eventually shove this turd of a candidate, Dick Devos, front and center to make the case for change against Granholm in a live debate. And she ate him alive. Skubick said as much last night and as much as Skubick looks like Ron Burgundy and can be annoying, he was dead right.

8. I do too
However, every one I talked too was going for Granholm. Well, all but one. I don't talk with many rethugs.

9. Its true -- it was mine! Up until the last possible minute, EVERYONE
was saying they thought DeVos was going to take it! I was scared to death!

Anyway, I absolutely *loved* her commercials -- she really took it to him, and she KICKED HIS CATUCKUS! Also, at the very end, folks were telling me they were voting a "STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC TICKET" for possibly the first time in their lives! It was so awesome -- I even had to call the local party to get information on the "Non-Partisan" and "schoolboard" sections of the ballot so they (in some cases, previously lifelong Republicans) could vote for the Democrats!

I am thrilled to be wrong! :)

:woohoo:

Because DeVos is Bush and Bush is DeVos.

11. Yep. That TV spot that morphed DeVos' image into Smirko's ...
Edited on Thu Nov-23-06 12:26 PM by TahitiNut
... probably was the clincher insofar as advertising is concerned. It was the perfect political ad. It couldn't inadvertently GAIN any votes for DeVos or even 'energize' his base, but it sure did push the 'tweeners and anti-Bush vote away from DeVos. Whatever votes it may not have gained for Granholm probably didn't vote - and I doubt there were many, since the disgusted-with-Bush vote turned out.
