It was a well-played game and could have gone either way. I'm still hoping for a rematch in neutral territory. Both teams deserve praise. Had one or another play gone another way, the outcome would have been different. We have nothing to be ashamed of and Bo would have been proud in spite of the ultimate loss.

And, I take great offense to your red-headed step-child comments. My daughter is a redhead.

Six people were arrested mostly for vandalism. Not one was a UM student and, if I recall correctly, none of them were from Ann Arbor. No cars were overturned and no fires were set. I'm not excusing it; it just seems so odd to me to celebrate something good by destroying something else. And Hash Bash had been over for two days.

And it hasn't happened since. Nothing after the 1997 football championship. Nothing after the football victory over OSU in 2003. Nothing after the hockey national championships either.

Just doesn't happen here.

The whole town is still reeling from Bo's death. They showed a picture of Lloyd Carr in the paper today as one of the pallbearers for the funeral. Really, this was a very heartbreaking loss in a close, close game, one day after one of the saddest in the history of the university, and I can't understand what level of sportsmanship would possess you to come to the Michigan forum and post such a thing.

I should remember the old middle east saying ... "You are the

My Brother was married by Bo's Godson and Woody Hayes real life son,
Judge Steven Hayes. If you check the other Michigan posts look @ what
I wrote on Bo's passing.

It was written in fun and if it was taken the wrong way the fault lies with
me not the reader.

I have been going to and watching OSU v U of M games for years and
have known players from both teams. I should have known better.

That was really nice of you. Yes, the whole town, really the whole state, is in mourning. Saturday morning I took flowers to the memorial that has sprung up at Schembechler Hall. My entire family went to Michigan so they were from all of us. Yesterday there was a three hour visitation at the church for the public. In the huge line that went down the street and around the block were former players who had dug out their letter jackets, coaches from other schools including MSU's George Perles who had the saddest face I've ever seen, and hundreds of fans. One little girl about ten years old was holding her father's hand and whispering to him "Don't cry."

We all feel as though a light has gone out. It's hard to imagine Ann Arbor and Michigan without Bo.

When I was driving home from work today, the day of Bo's funeral, the western sky was filled with dark gray-blue clouds. Directly under them was a pale yellow -- maize -- streak of sky. God was welcoming Bo....and He seems to have been showing his colors; He's a Michigan fan.

RIP, Bo. We love you and will miss you.

In the 1970s Woody Fresh off a Big Ten title and a win over
the U of M no more than 2 hours later was in the OSU hospital
giving out the roses that were given to him in honor of going
to the Rose Bowl ...... when a reporter found him and said "This
will make a great story."

Woody said, "Don't you think of printing a word of this or
taking a picture."

16. Bo went far beyond football

He raised millions for cancer research, especially the adrenal cancer that took his wife's life. He raised a ton of money for sick kids and at risk kids. Under his tenure as coach the UM Athletic Dept began their financial support the University's libraries and funded academic scholarships. He loved the University and he loved this town. He ran a clean program and was instrumental in working with the FBI to prevent steriod abuse in the 1980s probably saving thousands of lives. You don't have to be a football fan to appreciate what he did for this place.

I love Michigan football and I was a fan of Bo Schembecher, despite his politics (I even wrote him a letter telling him to stick with what he knew). He helped define the University of Michigan as a cut above and for that I will thank him forever.

But in 1970 after Kent State and it seemed like the everything
was going to explode @ OSU something happened.

Cops on one side and students on another with a blood bath brewing
a white haired old guy called Woody Hayes walked past the cops and
into the middle of the students to keep things from getting worse.

BTW OSU would have been wise to listen to Bo about John Cooper too.
He all but came out and said that the players on his ASU teams were on
steroids.

Be that as it may, I liked Bo. He's been a personality for as long as I remember Michigan football. My dad keeps pictures of him with all of the memorabilia of his own teams. The first game I went to with my dad, Bo was the coach. When Bo's 1969 team beat Ohio State, I remember my dad, who was still pretty young, leaping around his study (which was downstairs) and thumping the roof, he was so excited. I remember when he lost his wife and started a fund researching the type of cancer she had. He was a fixture, and I wish he could have been around for another ten years. I miss him. I have a picture of him on my office door now, and I intend to buy a photograph of him for MY office.

if you dislike football, why participate in threads that are ABOUT football, just to say that you don't care about it? Why join a thread containing a poll if you don't care about the poll? Why denigrate others' interests? Why, when there are thousands of people in Ann Arbor out on the streets with signs, balloons, Michigan gear, waiting in line for memorials and funerals, say that the town doesn't care about Bo's death? Why accuse someone of "worship", then tell them they're breaking the rules (which, if so, wasn't intentional) regarding name-calling? Frankly, I don't understand.

I objected to the characterization that the whole town was reeling from Bo's death ... I did not say that "the town" doesn't care. I said not everyone who lives in Ann Arbor was "reeling" with grief.
