We finally have Stephie from 9-12. It's about time we got her instead of Jerry!

1. Welcome Stephanie
Now, if we could get Thom Hartman and Rachael Maddow also.
We would have a real good line-up of some the sharpest Liberal talkers available.

For those of you who listen in on the radio, or over the net, don't
forget to listen in to Peter Werbe,
(from http://www.peterwerbe.com/ontheair.html ),
- Nightcall, Detroit's award-winning, phone-in talk show, hosted by
Peter Werbe, is in its 36th year. Nightcall airs Sundays on
WRIF-FM 101.1 from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Eastern Time, or
listen online at www.radiopower.org or www.wrif.com. -

2. Sharon, was that you who called in this morning?
I heard Sharon from Detroit and I heard the caller mention DU. It had to be you!

4. She seemed happy to hear from you
I'm usually not listening at that time (I work at a public radio station and am usually in the office at 10 a.m. where it's mandatory to listen to us) but I happened to be in the car after a meeting. It was fun to hear DU mentioned!

5. It's fun having Stephie live
I used to stream her everyday, but now I don't need to anymore. Glad you caught my debut!

6. I heard you tooo!!!
great job
too much lip service to the Israel, palistinian conflict. Although Carter's book has been getting some critism. I really enjoyed his last book about values.

8. I called on her last day before Springer came on.
This was back when Nancy was on before her. Pretty amazing that her dad was Goldwater's running mate. But, the more the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Anyway, I asked her about the change, and she said over the air that it was a done deal before 1310 ever fired up the transmitter.

I will try and get thru and give her an official Dawgie welcome back...to that same old ploce that you laughed about.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

9. I'm totally lost by your post
What was a done deal? When was Stephie ever on here before? I remember Jerry being on from day one.

What did I laugh about?

10. Here goes.
From day one, the line up had Steph. Springer came in, I think, about 2 months into 1310. Do you remember the lead up to the changeover, when they played donkey noises for like 48 hourses straight?

The "same old place" thing was a play on "Welcome Back Kotter."

Anyway, Steph was in the original line-up on 1310, and I was pretty ticked when they took her off.

Gosh I miss Nance. Her spirit is infectious.

Oh well.

11. One more thing.
The "done-deal" was that at the time 1310 and some other stations came online with AA, Springer had his gig in the works; at least the way I understood it. Steph, like Ed Schultz, is syndicated by Jones Radio Network, which appears to be the smart way to go for lefty talk radio. She and Ed survive well, which says a lot. We will all have to watch to see what happens to Al, Randi and the like.

I have a crush on Randi, and she does not know it. :)

12. Almost forgot...
Nancy's producer was Ceedee Henderson. He had a long running gig on the Mitch Albom show, and he knew me from when my band, The Blues Express, played on that show a few times in the Fisher Bldg. Anyway, Ceedee was a huge help promoting a beniefit for the widow/family of my keyboard player when he and I were struck by a wrong-way WMU frat boy on I-69 in 2002 after a gig in Angola, IN. That wreck got big coverage on the west side of state, but not around here.

You know the story, but every time I think of the connections, it makes me more and more touched by Nancy's run for Congress. Nancy, if yo are reading this, please make a comeback. You are not thru my child.

13. Thanks for clearing this up
It's weird, though. I listened to 1310 from day one and I don't remember Stephie at all from those first couple of months. I do, however, remember listening to Jerry (although I stopped fairly quickly, as I didn't care for him). I've been streaming Stephie for ages and am so glad I can get her on my radio now.

I know that Stephie and Ed are with Mother Jones, not AAR. I wonder what will happen with 1310 with the impending sale of AAR. Sounds like they have a buyer, although they haven't officially announced it yet, nor who it is.

Time will tell whether Nancy decides to runs again, but I wouldn't rule it out at this point (nor would I say it's a done deal).

Take care, and have a great holiday!

14. Stephanie was on the first few days of Air America Radio in Detroit on 1310
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 09:31 PM by Mich Otter
Then Jerry Springer came on and Stephanie was off of 1310.
It is good to have her back.

SharonRB- Check back to this thread where you say you will miss Stephanie Miller.
