Announcement from the newly re-formed U of M group Anti War Action:
------------------------------------------
We will be holding our first meeting of the new year this Saturday at 5:00 in the Union Taproom. Members of many local peace groups, including Michigan Peaceworks, Ann Arbor Citizens Against War, the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace, and the Liberty Street Agitators will be there, so it'll be an excellent chance to network with active people in the community. We will be discussing the buses that we are running to Washington DC for the big anti-war protest on January 27th (that's a Saturday - for more info check out our website, awa.squarespace.com), the nonviolence training we are doing on Martin Luther King day, and our plans for direct action this semester. As always, we want to know what you want to do, and how you think students should tackle the problem of US militarism / imperialism.
------------------------------------------
For people in the area I highly recommend attending. There are several local groups and we are trying to have more coordinated events and efforts, and this is one of them. I am part of the "Liberty Street Agitators" - we are the folks who stand at the Federal Bldg every day during rush hour. While I am always disappointed with the apathy of U of M students in general, now there is a group of really motivated students there and attending this event would be a great way to support their efforts.
Peace and Solidarity!
