Do you think that the refugees from Iraq will be...
brought to our state. Why don't they send them to Wyoming,Idaho,Utah, and other states that don't have that many people our economy is already suffering without bringing more people here. How can they distinguish between terrorists.

1. Any refugees to the US will most likely go where they have support and contacts.
I'm not in favor of "sending them" anywhere as long as they're here in compliance with our laws. As with any person, they should enjoy the presumption of innocence, just like me. Tim McVeigh had roots in Michigan (west side) and he wasn't even a refugee.

2. I imagine many will settle here

since there's a large Arab community in our state.

I go out of my way to shop at the local Iraqi market - they have the best bread anywhere, and I like keeping my money in the community. :)

Those in Michigan looking to help refugees seeking asylum might want to consider volunteering at Freedom House in Detroit. http://www.freedomhousedetroit.org/index.html

3. How can they distinguish between terrorists?
Not all terrorists are Muslim or of Middle East descent. That's a very biased statement. Timothy McVeigh committed a huge act of domestic terrorism when he bombed the federal building in Oklahoma? Or how about Eric Rudolph, the anti-choice bomber who terrorized for years? Both Caucasian.

Southeast Michigan has a thriving, peaceful Arab-American community. Please tell me when this community has caused any disruption or brought any suspicion of terrorism to themselves.

4. In your opinion...
they are all peaceful but not from my experience...I agree not all terrorists are of Muslim or middle eastern descent. a large majority of hidden terrorist use pen an paper to do their dirt and these are in my opinion, some who are running things in this country, and the media...BY the way do they live in your area, meaning the refugees...

6. It has nothing to do with being a bigot...
I think that this country is big enough for refugees to be place in all areas of the country,.Especially in the states that are all white...and most of these areas are the where they voted for this war so they should accept refugees as well as the rest of the country...

9. If you're implying people need to "accept" refugees in their states
as some sort of punishment for their voting habits (WTF?), I recommend rereading my previous post.

If, on the other hand, you're simply stating that all states need to welcome refugees who want to move there because of basic human rights, then I completely agree.

Disruption? How about broadcasting their daily prayers over loud speakers.

8. You might be a bigot if ...
... you consider loudspeakers on a mosque a disturbance, but not the loudspeakers on a Christian church, or the campaniles on a bell tower at a university (Michigan has 3 of those that I know of, and sometimes do extended outdoor concerts on them)

... you are more concerned about the intermittent decibel level of mosques than you are about constant airport noise.

12. Um ... no kidding it's not the same
The township of Hamtramck was established in 1798, named after a French Canadian, Jean François Hamtramck, who served in the American Revolution. The village was established in 1901.

I don't know too many cities in the US that haven't changed in the last 100/200 years - maybe we should just go ahead and rename them all.
