Gotta love Tim Pawlenty
While he threatens (along with the legislature) to shut down our state government, he finds the time to argue with the governor of Colorado about whose state quarter is better.

1. LOL
This is one of the most bizarre articles I've read for quite some time, but I had to laugh at this.

“It has the state bird of Minnesota, the mosquito. It has a couple of drunks in a canoe. It has these lakes.”

2. I saw that fluff piece on the news last night.
Yeah, somewhat cute and funny. But overall just more media whoring for Timmy the Tool to show what a nice guy he is, that it MUST be the fault of them damn Demmycrats wanting to shut down the government if they don't get to raise taxes on all of us to 90%.

3. Legislative, governor staff are "essential state employees"
That's right--the political hacks, appointees, spinmeisters and other campaign workers who are on the state payroll between elections are considered "essential state employees." That means when the folks who clean rest area toilets, man license bureau counters and fix your roads get pink-slipped, these "essential employees" will continue to draw a full paycheck without losing one minute of vacation, comp or sick time.

How about a little coverage on that?

4. "At least the parks will stay open"
My agency (Dept of Human Services-- aka "the welfare agency") will be all but a ghost town on July 1. That means that the largest medical insurer in Minnesota (the state) won't be doing any work because of the budget impasse.

However, the governor and his buddies will still get to go camping, and we'll continue to pay every legislator her/his per diem to come to the Capital every day and sit on their thumbs while the committees continue arguing in circles about the budget.

Is this a great state or what? :eyes:
