Minn. Cancels 'Whorehouse Days' Festival

Organizers of the first-ever "Whorehouse Days" festival in Gilbert had big plans: a four-poster bed race, a beer mug-sliding contest, a showdown for best-dressed madam.

Now, they're looking for a lawyer, after the City Council's refusal to rent out public buildings effectively killed the festival that was supposed to start this weekend in the small northern Minnesota town.

Almost one-third of the city's businesses signed a petition against the event and dozens of residents protested at council meetings.

"The City Council's acting like it's the Moral Majority or something," said lead organizer Bob Cap. "They really played a number on us."

7. I think it was an incredibly tacky idea designed to make money

for a few business owners. If they want to capitalize on the town's wild past, they could still have the same events with a name that wouldn't necessitate explaining prostitution to the town's young children. The tourists who would be drawn to an event called "Whorehouse Days" would probably be happier in Las Vegas or Reno.

8. The Biker Crowd loves this type of thing.

Sturgis ,SD has made a name for their town and tons of money catering to this type of activity. Leave the kids at home, let those interested have good time and quit being judgmental prudes.

It's "Whorehouse Days" not "Highhorse Days"
