United Health as a place to work
I was recently contacted by this Minn-based company about a good job that I seem to be a good fit for...

Anybody know about them as a place to work, other than being an evil health insurance company?

I don't know anything about them as a place to work, sorry. But I'll say this:

They have the rocking-est PPO I've ever known. I have FMS and Migraines, so I need quite a bit of coverage, and while I was on their PPO I had never been happier with an insurance company.

However - I was dumb enough to think that we could get by on the EPO (I'm not even sure what this is, a cross between a PPO and HMO I'm guessing?), so we lowered our coverage. Now they just seem like another insurance company. I have had problems with getting coverage, but I think that's mainly because I didn't KNOW what the difference was between the two plans - so it's my own fault. Next year we will definitely go back to the PPO.

If health coverage is any indicator of a health ins. company's ethic - I say they're the best I've seen of the lot.

2. thanks
It usually depends on who your boss is & the department you work in, but just wanted a general idea of the company.

3. Their CEO is a HUGE Bush supporter
And he also shows up at the top of most highly compensated executives in Minnesota.

Also, the wife of Matt Entenza, a dishonest, megalomaniac politician who unfortunately is House minority leader here and wants to be attorney general, is a multimillionaire executive with United Health.

4. I know them
and my gut reaction is to tell you to run in the opposite direction. Especially if you have a job you already like and feel secure about (and that has decent health insurance - because the insurance they provide their employees sucks).

However, like many large companies, how good or bad an experience you'd have would depend on who your immediate manager is.

PM me if you want more detail.
