Payback time

Well, Sen. Norm Coleman sure knows which side his bread is buttered on! Taking a lead role in defending Karl Rove -- the man who all but appointed him to be Minnesota's Republican candidate for senator -- from calls to resign, Coleman insists that we wait for the complete investigation that will undoubtedly exonerate Rove, and that Democrats should spend more time getting legislation passed and less time engaging in partisan attacks.

I seem to recall that the senator was less patient with the investigative process when he was calling for Kofi Annan's resignation in December. No, that situation called for maximal grandstanding -- not restraint, the presumption of innocence or the demands of more pressing legislation.

What breathtaking hypocrisy. Coleman's loyalty to Rove and the administration obviously outweighs his loyalty to principle.

Paul Chillman, Minneapolis.

3. I like this one, too: Rove's senator or ours?
Rove's senator or ours?

Is Norm Coleman a U.S. senator or a political attack dog? I called his Washington office Wednesday to voice my concerns about the Karl Rove scandal and was met with a prepared text chalking up any of Rove's problems to simply a partisan attack by Democrats.

Now, in Thursday's Star Tribune, I see the Republicans have tapped Coleman to be a leader in defending Rove.

If Coleman wishes to simply advance the cause du jour of the White House, he should resign from government service and take a job in politics. I remember when there was a distinction between the two.

Charles Smith-Dewey, Lakeville.

5. After 06 he's gonna be left hanging out to dry!

He needs to lose his chairmanships because he's obstructing justice.

We need an anti-Coleman meme.

Minnesota needs a senator, not a traitor enabler.

Where's dpbrown?

6. I can't wait until we get a Senator Again
This :dunce: only does the crime family's bidding. He is only interested in furthering himself. Once he slips up he will be left in the dust by the bushies.
