In the latest legislative wrap-up, Michele Bachmann fails to mention she was removed as assistant minority leader for policy in the Senate Republican caucus, which she blames on her opposition of tax increases. I suggest a different reason: she’s an extremist and an embarrassment to her party. The hate mongering Bachmann is a laughing stock for hiding behind bushes at the Capitol during a gay/lesbian protest. You praise the passage of the transportation and education bills. In previous years you under-fund both MNDOT and the Education departments, then break your arm patting yourself on the back for finally doing your job.
Mady Rieter. You should stick to writing legislation for the insurance industry. In the last legislative regular session I counted 7 bills (SF 125, 314, 668, 970, 880, 1094 and 2160) with your name on them. Must be nice to be able to make laws related to the industry in which you work. Maybe you should have been working on the State budget and issues that affect us all instead of concerning yourself with life and death issues such as American flag pins on uniforms (sf 295), a deer season extension (sf 398), English as the official language (sf165), prohibition of legislative sessions in even years (sf195), and the abolishment of the light rail transit commission (sf197). With regards to greedy American Indian tribes, are you aware of the history of our nation? Or are you a Cheri Yecke historical revisionist? Here’s an idea. Let’s save taxpayer money by removing Wal-Mart employee’s off our State medical plans and requiring the company (9 billion in profits last year) to provide health care benefits to their employee’s.
