A good time was had by all
...and when I got in my car, Malloy was talking to a guy (name unknown) who seems to have a lot of detail on the Wellstone assassination.

Also -- a notebook was left behind. It's on the front seat of my car and will be returned to the person who describes it best.

1. Speaking of things left behind---
In the dark, I accidentally picked up an extra set of barbecue tongs with wooden handles.

If they're yours, let me know, and I'll bring them to the next DU gathering!

It was indeed a most excellent picnic, with more food than we could possibly consume and a surprise guest, Scotty Mortensen, who is running for Congress from the sixth district.

I'm sure that pictures are on their way and will be posted as soon as the photographers get home.

2. I heard Malloy too
The guest was James Fetzer, he's a professor up at UMD and one of the authors of "American Assassination - The Strange Death of Senator Paul Wellstone". I thought it was a very interesting interview.

He's done a lot of work on JFK's murder as well.

Yummm!

Celebratory Cake honoring the intelligence and social sophistication of the pResident*

Everyone agreed that Chocolate makes us happy!

We were also joined by Scott Mortensen, who is running for Congress from the 6th District.
He had no trouble relaxing with us and fit in well with our group.
I enjoyed his input and am glad he joined us.
It was too dark to get a good picture of Scott.

I ALSO heard the Malloy interview about the Wellstone assassination on the way home.
Welcome to the Twilight Zone!

In memory of Paul

I had to add the Wellstone pictures because of the conversation tonight.
I laughed ALOT MORE when he was our Senator!

It was good to see y'all tonight!

23. How could you possibly eat that cake with that picture on it?
or was it photoshopped later?

24. The picture was merely placed on top of the cake, not
baked into it.

The cake itself was too yummy not to eat. :7

9. new here
hi everyone, I am new to the UG. I can't start a new post because I haven't posted...anyway yesterday I read an article on freeway bloggers and the signs all over America...They are great and I'd sure like to see them all over Minnesota. I am putting one up on the 5th/7th Ave exit in SSP on 494 going east (traffic always backs up there with the new bridge being built) If they take it down I will put it back up over and over again and will find a few more spots to put up a few more. I think it would be great to get more of you to do the same. Its cheap and we need to get the message everywhere. BUSH LIED...check out the article and the site.

http://www.freewayblogger.com/

You do not have to put signs up on freeways...you can put them in your yard, on your garage...

14. Hi Global
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 03:46 PM by bvar22
Welcome to DU. We have a very active group. We meet monthly (at least) and would love to meet you in person.
We love Freeway blogging (or Guerilla Blogging): Bulletin Boards, supermarkets, bus stops, coffee shops, side walk chalking, leaflets on windshields, posters on trees in the park, etc. One of our members body blogs when she rides her bicycle (wears a sign on her back). Guerilla Blogging is true Grass Roots Activism.

Love your enthusiasm.
Please try to get photos.
If needed, I will be glad to help you post them.

12. What a great dissenting picnic!
This could be the beginning of a wonderful trend of spreading dissent from park to park throughout Minnesota!

And remember, it's just not a party without spicy beefsticks.

Must have totally drained the batteries because they won't recharge.

I'm curious to see how mine turned out.

They are mine -- :-) I didn't even realize I had left them until you posted. If you want to hang on to them until the next meetup, that's fine with me. Otherwise, we could meet somewhere and I can take them off your hands. Anyhow, let me know!

21. Great pictures
Thanks for including the Wellstone photos. I miss him.

And why were there no mosquitos? That was a pleasant feature that I didn't notice until you mentioned it. Funny how we only notice that they are there, not when they are absent!

I also wear my message when I am out walking around Lake Harriet - yesterday I wore my "Hands Off Our Social Security" shirt. I need an Anti-war shirt. I love that design with Cindy's hands holding the roses "Anything war can do, peace can do better"

See you next time.

22. That was great!
It is so hard to find a group that is basically in agreement on so many things. There was nobody shouting us down about how good the war is and how great the pResident is. We all know he is a failure and a phony.
Great Pictures Bvar!
Go Cindy!
Peace!
