Sen. Lourey Returns From Texas Protest
(WCCO) St. Paul A state senator who lost a son in Iraq returned home after joining another mother's vigil near President Bush's Texas ranch.

The DFL party held a welcome-home event at the Capitol Sunday for Sen. Becky Lourey, DFL-Karrick, who joined Cindy Sheehan's war protest in Crawford, Texas.

Lourey's son, 41-year-old Matthew Lourey, died May 26 when the Army helicopter he was piloting was shot down.

"When I stood in that ditch in Crawford, Texas -- which wasn't anywhere near as hot as Iraq -- and when the fire ants were biting my feet, I felt so close to Matt," Lourey said Sunday. "Just a minute sort of peace." <snip>

1. AND she switched her ticket...
...so she wouldn't cross the picket line. I love her.
