Some friends of mine are organizing aid efforts. They will be sending a 24 foot truck this weekend, and plan to do a benefit concert on the state house lawn around Sept 18! I will keep you all posted. Here's a message that went out this morning:
We're offering our truck to bring supplies to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Our warehouse in Brooklyn Center is available for a drop-off location for donations. The sooner we get a truckload, and some funds for gas, meals, and hotel rooms, we'll leave. Help is greatly needed in Louisiana, Alabama & Mississippi. We'd like to fill our 24-foot straight truck with bottled water, meals ready to eat, clothing & shoes. Please contact me at 763-503-3532 if you are interested in joining us. If you have company wearables in your office or warehouse that you don't want, this is a great use for them. If you have any contacts with grocery stores or restaurants who can offer a pallet of food, but not a whole truckload, this is a great way for them to help. We are willing to drive around to small, local grocery stores and gather donations. We're searching for a non-profit to partner with, possibly Twin City Fellowship Church, or Hands Across the City, so donations can be made to that entity. THANKS!
