All the more reason I'm extremely delighted about the stadium bills. :sarcasm:
They'll hike my property taxes to pay for schools and then tax me again to subsidize a stadium or two for friggin' millionaires, all the while cutting things like public transportation and healthcare for the poor. Add in a wage freeze, gas at $2.50+ a gal., and heating bills that are going to skyrocket this winter and Canada is lookng more and more inviting every day. Yes, heating bills in Canada might be even higher but goddamn, at least my tax dollars won't be funneled to Halliburton and Bechtel or some friggin' miiionaires that want new stadiums for their teams. I just don't know what has happened to this state or this country. I don't recognise either of them anymore.

3. Chris Coleman also favored a new ballpark

This is why I'm sorta torn as to who to vote for. We all know Randy Kelly sucks and I would rather vote for Benedict Arnold than for him. But Coleman also wanted for us to approve public financing for a baseball stadium for his area in Highland Park. I'm sure that he now realizes that such a burden would destroy St Paul. But I sure as hell would like to see him renounce all talk of further wastage of our tax dollars in those stupid stadiums.

Looks like my vote will have to go to the lesser of 2 evils. :dilemma:

I didn't really have the time to follow the Mayor's race but I voted for Chris in the primaries because a.) I HATE Randy Kelly and b.) I had seen Chris' name mentioned here so I thought he was "safe", though I admittedly didn't have time to check out where he stood on the issues. My bad. Goddamn, what the hell does it take to get a "Dem" candidate that doesn't favor corporate welfare? A move to another country apparently. What is it that the so-called "Dems" don't grasp about the whole corporate welfare concept anyway?

Yeah, I know what you're saying about Randy Kelly. I'd vote for a ham sandwich before I'd vote for him and I'm a vegetarian so that tells you where he stands with me. But I HATE voting for the lesser of two evils. I'd rather vote for a candidate I believe in but that's not always an option in a two-party system. Especially where the two-party system could be more accurately described as a "one-party system with two different names for the party." Damn. Looks like I'll have to send Chris an email letting him know what I think of his stance on the stadium issue.
