Amy Klobuchar gets endorsement from Emily's list

WASHINGTON — Emily's List announced today it's endorsing Amy Klobuchar for U.S. Senate, giving the Democrat a key boost in her fundraising effort.

Emily's List, which helps female Democratic candidates who support abortion rights, called Klobuchar the best opportunity to keep the seat in Democratic hands.

Klobuchar, the Hennepin County Attorney, is running against children's safety advocate Patty Wetterling and Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation President Ford Bell in the DFL primary. U.S. Rep. Mark Kennedy is running without any major challenger in the Republican primary.

The incumbent senator, Democrat Mark Dayton, is not seeking re-election."
