Rest in Peace Kirby.
Kirby Puckett died today.

I saw him in the 1987 and 1991 World Series. After the Twins won the 1987 playoff game in Detroit, my best friend and her two kids drove from St. Cloud to the Metrodome to welcome the Twins home. Ahh, the joy.

In 1991, we had two seats behind home plate, but as far up in the stands as you could get. One seat was obstructed. During the 6th game, we realized the Twins did better while my friend was in the bathroom. So she sat in the bathroom until Kirby Puckett made his magnificent catch, and hit is game-winning home run. The Twins did better when I was in the obstructed seat, so that is where I "saw" the action.

Kirby made it worth while.

We'll miss you Kirby. You made us all love the game.

2. I delivered pizzas during the 1987 series
And was glued to the TV for 1991. How such a stumpy guy could jump that high was amazing. I so enjoyed watching him play.

3. I like to think that as he passed over Bob Casey was there to
announce "And now, number 34 KIRBEEEEEEEE Pucket!"

Thanks for some great memories Kirby, anyone who saw you play will never forget you.

4. The most beloved player to ever wear a Minnesota uniform.
He had his frailties and his weaknesses, and yes, his problems. But he loved the game, loved the fans, loved his teammates.

I'm deeply sad today.

6. I'll never forget hearing John Gordon after a HR
"Touch 'em all Kirby Puckett!"

And so he did.

8. We Definitely Lost A Baseball Legend
My dad was the biggest Twins fans, and he always said that if any major league team deserved a new stadium, that the Twins should be the ones to get it, as they have been the only team to win a major championship - not to mention twice!! Rest in peace, Kirby!!!
