1. there will be. there always is. ... someone willing to take a
shellacking. He usually wins with 65 percemt or more of the vote.
it would take a good scandal to bring him down, I think....

2. I know, but gods, one can hope!
I am sick of having him as my rep.

3. Someone needs to step up to the job.
We need to fight everywhere at all times. The more strong challenges the better chance we have to take back the house.

4. The more challengers there are, the more people hear alternatives
As long as Republicanites run unopposed, people hear only their message.

5. Debra Watts ran in 2004
I believe she gained ground over previous DFL candidates for this seat. She is charismatic and intelligent, and I believe she should run again now that she has some name recognition.

6. She officially took herself out of the race in January
She had planned to run but I think a family member became ill and she didn't feel she could devote herself to a race this year. It was a disappointment because she was a good candidate and, as you said, did have some name recognition built up.

7. A challenger spoke at my caucus
Some white middle age male. I don't remember his name, (Tim Johnson?) but he spoke to our group for about a minute. He was a vet. Oh, this was in Eden Prairie.

Ramstad is a tool. The mouth breathers on hate radio try to paint him as RINO, but don't buy that.

8. Was it Andrew Borene?
http://andrewborene.com/ Going for SD41?

He wants to stay in Minnesota for now, but will make a great candidate very soon. He is getting support from Paul Hackett, whom I am a big backer of as well. Another Fighting Dem.

It would be awesome if Hackett makes a Minnesota trip in support!

9. I think Suego was close
I'm pretty sure the name I've heard kicked around in Tom (sometimes Tommy Johnson) as a possible candidate. I don't know any more about it than the name.

10. No, the guy I heard...
The guy I heard speak was NOT running for MN Senate.

He was running against Ramstad-the-tool. I think I'm attending the next convention next Sat. If I remember, I will try to get the guy's name.

11. Yeah, DFL Princess got it
I went to another caucus (sp?) yesterday (3.25.06) Tommy Johnson spoke. He's running against that tool, Jim Ramstad.

He is a vet, and so was his brother, who had just died (a few days ago) of MS. He seemed like a decent guy.

I tried to find a web site link for you, but could not. Maybe he doesn't have a site set up yet.

14. His brother was an active DFLer
I served with him on a senate district committee. Great guy. I went to his funeral earlier this week. I had no idea Tommy was entering the race.

15. I think Wendy Wilde will run
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 12:18 AM by annm4peace
I wonder if we could get her run to against Ramstead. She is thinking about it. I think she is for Bringing the Troops Home. She always gave the Peace groups as well as the Support for Cindy Sheehan group a lot of air-time on her show. She is so intelligent as well as being a great listener. I know she is an admirer of Rep. John Conyers. Through her radio she made lots of connections with important people all over the country and could seek their advise when needed once she is in office. She started a youth program in the Lake street/uptown area. She also was very pro-Union, living wage, mental health, etc. She supports a lot of things I do, that is why I really liked her show. She would be for the rural as well as urban citizens and that is what I really like. She definately would be liberal but would also be able to reach across the aisle.
With her name recognition, charisma, and passion I think she would be a winner!

I sure miss her show and the people she interviewed!!

:bounce: :7 :woohoo: :bounce:
