Yes, the St. Mark's Cathedral Choir is giving another concert, and I bet you have never heard any of these pieces. They are:

Herbert Howells' Requiem

Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Le Deniement de St. Pierre

and

Francis Poulenc's Litanies a la Vierge Noire

(Yes, a 2/3 French program!)

Anyway, it's at 4PM on Sunday March 19, and if you come, you'll see not only me, Lydia Leftcoast, but also MN9driver, whom I discovered to be a DUer a couple of months ago.

1. Ooooh! Ooooh! I totally love Charpentier!

Not that crazy about Howells, but Poulenc rocks. Speaking of French Baroque (which Poulenc isn't -- Baroque, anyhow), it would be way cool if somebody would perform Lully's Great Motet (Quare Fremuerunt). Can you look into this?

I'll see if I can make it to this.

I usually sit in the back with my girlfriend, although sometimes our attendance is sparse.

5. I agreed to babysit my friend's 4 y.o. on Sunday.
Gulp.

Otherwise I would try to make it.

I'm sure you will rock the house. :)

6. We always do...rock the house, that is

Alas, unless the 4-year-old is very musically precocious and well-behaved, I would not recommend this concert as a suitable afternoon activity for a child.

(Young Mozart might have enjoyed it, though.) :-)

the Walker Art Center.

It's the church with the square tower.

(The one with the pointed steeple is Hennepin Methodist, sometimes known as the Holy Oil Can. :-) , a reference that you will understand if you ever see it.)

10. You guys missed a great concert
Lydia's group is very, very good. The church was easily more than half-full and the singing ... ah, the singing.

:-)

Well, you'll get another chance on June 3, when we do an all Ralph Vaughan Williams program with the Choral Society (the community choir sponsored by St. Mark's), or, if that doesn't suit you, come to our ever-popular Lessons and Carols services in December. We may do a fall concert as well.

I'll be sure to put up a shameless self-promotion post the next time it happens, anyway, so watch this forum.

Thanks for coming, Chip!

:hi:

Personally, I think you should sing at our next get-together. Sort of a loss-leader kind of thing.

THEN you guys would be sorry...
