Have you looked at your electricity bill lately?
Our provider is Wright-Hennepin, a so-called cooperative provider.

Several month ago I signed for online billing but recently they changed the format. Mostly, I cannot find the rate of KWH and I have to wonder whether they are trying to hide it. At least, one has to open two pages just to find first, KWH used and then the actual bill.

But I wonder whether by state law they have to include the rate of KWH on the bill. Centerpoint Energy certainly does.

I just fired them an angry email.. but are they obligated to do so? Who regulates them?

1. The Public Utilities Commission
I would have to see your bill, but your Kwh rate should be posted next to your usage (if you're interested in easy readability). Most likely your rate is somewhere around 7 to 10 cents per kwh. Some utilities collect taxes for the cities and counties, there is also a fluctuation that may be added in regarding the price of coal.

2. Thanks. This is how it used to be
before they changed their "new, improved bill"

First line reported last payment
next was a detail basic charges, then usage: KWH used times the rate, and then the sales tax was added to arrive to the new charges.

Now they have different pages for the actual bill, another for "payment history" and another for usage history. Waste of paper and space when everything could fit into one page. And no where is the rate, or the detailed of the bill.

CenterPoint Energy also several months ago changed their web site, so that I cannot print from Safari, but at least can from Mozilla.

Will wait for their reply and then, if needed, will complain to PUC.

Thank you for the information.
