I have chosen to support Andy Luger for Hennepin County attorney

I had lengthy conversations with both Andy Luger and Mike Freeman, and frankly I found it to be a tough decision, as both candidates impressed me with not only their credentials, but also their grasp on the issues they will be faced with as county attorney. What tipped the scales for me to Andy Luger is his committment to reduce recidivism by offering support to those leaving prison who wish to stay out of legal trouble.

1. I'm completely torn by this race

On the one hand, I've known Mike forever. He did do a good job as CA in the past and he still has some good ideas about prevention. On the other hand, I had a good talk with Andy the other evening and he also has a lot of good ideas. Including, as you said, doing something about recidivism as well as prevention by intervening with kids.

I'm probably leaning a bit toward Luger because he is new and he's not been part of the Hennepin County Attorney's office. He was a DA in Brooklyn (his wife is from here that's why they moved to Minn) and I'm thinking that someone who knows first hand how things have worked in other parts of the country might not be such a bad idea.

Andy has also said he'll abide by the endorsement, I don't believe Mike has made that committment.

2. I was very torn by this myself

but I found myself slightly more impressed by Andy Luger's fresh ideas! Either one of them would be a great CA.
